The South African Council for Educators (SACE) is investigating allegations that a Grade 9 Soweto pupil took his own life after a student teacher mocked him.

News24 previously reported that 15-year-old PJ Simelane Secondary School pupil, Tiro Moalusi, was mocked because he was gay.

Tiro Moalusi (15), who attended PJ Simelane Secondary, committed suicide after allegedly being called "Sisi-Bhuti" (sister-brother) in the classroom by the teacher.

The South African Human Rights Commission says it is extremely concerned about how the Ugu District Municipality and the utility Ugu Water are handling the ongoing water crisis on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

The university has been making submissions at the South African Human Rights Commission’s inquiry into racial discrimination in the advertising industry. The Commission’s Gauteng provincial office is leading the inquiry which is aimed at addressing the publication of adverts that carry racial undertones in South Africa.
