The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says water in Hammanskraal north of Pretoria is unfit for human consumption.
"Independent sample analysis done by the CSIR confirms this. Some of the drinking water determinants . . .  can cause chronic health conditions to the residents," said SAHRC attorney Buang Jones.
The water sampling was conducted on June 20 2019 at the Temba Water Treatment Works, Kekana Primary School, Refentse Clinic and Hammanskraal Secondary School.

The South African Human Rights Commission has condemned the attack on law enforcement officials in the Johannesburg CBD on Thursday.
Johannesburg metro officers and the police were responding to a protest in Rahima Moosa Street when they came under attack.
Police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele said shop owners in the CBD had embarked on a violent protest when the police wanted to confiscate alleged fake goods they were selling.

A routine SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) inspection of Messina Hospital has exposed some shocking conditions - including dirty areas and rotten food - and the CEO has conceded there are not enough staff to clean and manage it.
