The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in collaboration with the University of South Africa (UNISA): Advocacy & Resource Centre for Students with Disabilities Directorate (ARCSWiD) will commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3 in 1992. It aims to promote awareness and mobilize support for critical issues pertaining to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and development. The theme for IDPD 2017, is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”.
The event will celebrate the achievements and contributions that persons with disabilities make to the University community. It will also provide a platform to discuss how we can raise awareness and take positive action towards inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities.
