On 06 – 07 December 2017, the South African Human Rights Commission, Mpumalanga Provincial Office, will be hosting follow-up public outreach clinics at Tembisa Old-age and Disability Centre, Kabokweni and Louisville Thusong Centre, Nkomazi Local Municipality from 10h00 to 13h00.
The purpose of the clinics is to assess the level of community awareness of human rights as well as the mandate of the Commission since the previous clinics held on 26 – 27 July 2016. The clinics will also be utilised as a platform for the Commission to register complaints and address enquiries on human rights issues which were raised by communities.
The clinics are also aimed at contributing to the promotion, protection and realisation of human rights established in the Constitution of South Africa through improving access to justice; access to information; transparency on service delivery by the municipalities as well as government departments; and raising awareness of constitutional rights within rural communities.
