Media Invite: SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office hosts Capacity Building Workshop

Attention: Editors and Reporters

6 December 2017

SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office will host a capacity building workshop for ‘Hope for Life Youth Foundation’ at Eskia Mphahlele Library in Pretoria.

The capacity building workshop is aimed at providing basic human rights education and information to the organisation in conducting human rights awareness programs. The engagement will also establish working relations with the organisation for possible collaborations on human rights campaigns. It is envisaged that the community organisation will assist the Commission in future community engagements, identification of human rights needs of the broader communities and render assistance in the design of activities that are aimed at increasing the involvement of various communities in human rights awareness issues.

Further, the engagement seeks to provide the focal point with the necessary tools and skills to render basic advice, respond to queries, lead activities that reinforce human rights education, do referrals of possible human rights violations to the Commission, and direct communities to appropriate institutions should the need arise.

Details of the event:

Date: 7 December 2017, 10:00 - 14:00

Venue: Eskia Mphahlele Library, Pretoria CBD, City of Tshwane Municipality
