Media Invite: SAHRC Free State Provincial to host roadshow in Setsoto District Municipality

On 31 October 2018, the South African Human Rights Commission will host roadshows in the Setsoto District Municipality.

These roadshows are expected to serve as a platform to amplify awareness on pertinent issues relating to access to justice, Children’s rights, the Commission’s child friendly complaints handling procedure, access to information and many other rights as provided in the Bill of Rights.

The Human Rights Roadshows are an opportunity for the Commission to directly interact with the communities and to increase the Commission’s visibility, as well as promote its mandate. The roadshows will be at identified institutions in Meqheleng, Ficksburg, which include schools, correctional centre, and sections of the township where people were evicted and these roadshows will take the form of campaigns and information sessions. Information and promotional material will be disseminated.

The Commission together with local legal advice centres, will engage with the community members to raise awareness on the role of the law, role of the Commission and provide general legal advice.
