Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Office in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Department of Education, Enhlanzeni Region, to conduct information session on the right to safe environment in schools

During the month of January 2019, the SAHRC Mpumalanga provincial office embarked on roadshows visiting schools around Ehlanzeni Region. Due to its findings, the Commission saw it befitting to work collaboratively with the Mpumalanga Department of Education in its endeavor to fight against unsafe school environment.

The Commission believes that there is no place for violence, drug-use/abuse, sexual harassment and other criminal acts in schools. These acts pose a serious barrier to learning and are likely to deprive both learners and educators their inherent constitutional rights to life, education, equality and dignity. 

The information sessions are targeting schools management and school safety committees, and are scheduled to take place as follows:
