The Commission wishes to extend its gratitude to the community members and representatives who attended this meeting. The issues addressed in the Report require a dedicated collaboration between the Commission, other involved state organs and the Eldorado Park Community if progress is to be achieved. In particular, the Commission is currently forming a plan to implement its findings and recommendations in the Report in collaboration with the Office of the Premier, the Gauteng Department of Education and other role players.
The Commission wishes to categorically dismiss inaccurate claims that racism is pervasive in the Eldorado Park Community. Conversely, the Commission has found this community representative and diverse. In South Africa, we draw strength from the diversity of our people. It is this interweaving of many different cultures that has shaped our country and should not be undermined by any person or entity.
The Commission looks forward to further, meaningful engagement with the Greater Eldorado Park Community and government in an endeavour to find concrete actions and solutions to socio-economic challenges in the area. The Commission notes that it will take a concerted effort from all sectors of society: government, corporates and individuals working together for a better society to overcome socio-economic development challenges in South Africa as a whole.
