SAHRC makes history at the UN Human rights Council

The South African Human Rights Commission was commended by the United Nations Human Rights Council for being among the first stakeholders to deliver a video statement at the Council.


The Video Statement was delivered by SAHRC Chairperson Adv. Mabedle Lawrence Mushwana.
Adv. Mushwana addressed delegates at the adoption of the Universal Peer Review (UPR) Working Group reports, including from South Africa at the 21st session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Commission is the first, alongside the International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development for being the first stakeholders to make use of the possiblity of presenting video statements at the UPR session on the adoption of UPR reports.
