Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission to convene the Fourth and Final Sitting of the Alexandra Inquiry

The South African Human Rights Commission (“The Commission”) and the office of the Public Protector will convene the fourth and final sitting of the Alexandra Inquiry. The inquiry will probe socio-economic conditions in Alexandra, their impact on fundamental rights and whether such amounts to maladministration, abuse of power, corruption or improper conduct.

The panel will receive oral submissions from the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, MEC for Community Safety, MEC for Human Settlements and Urban Planning, the MEC for Education, the MEC for social development, the Chairperson of the inter-ministerial task team on Alexandra and the office of the Auditor- General.

The Inquiry will take place as follows:
