SAHRC receives complaint into alleged Golf Course racism

17 JANUARY 2013

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The Commission has been monitoring media reports of the race based attack which occurred at the World of Golf. Although it has not yet received an instruction or complaint from the victim (Maluleke), it has received a complaint from two members of the public.

We have written to the Club to request them to provide us with their investigation report once this has been finalized. The Commission also intends engaging with the victim once he is released from hospital in the course of its investigation into this matter.

The Commission strongly condemns racial intolerance in any form and encourages the public to work greater commitment toward the achievement of a society rooted to respect, tolerance and non racism.
