Media Statement on Minister Xingwanes calvinist comments

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

27th February 2013

The South African Human Rights Commission has received information about alleged statements made by Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Minister Lulu Xingwane during an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

We are in the process of collating information on this matter, including reviewing transcript from the interview, and we will make pronouncements and engage with the relevant stakeholders in due course.

We, however, believe that any attempt by any person to make gross generalizations that cast aspersions on any language, race or religious group is something completely unacceptable and not keeping with our Constitution.
