Media Advisory: SAHRC Commissioner Bokankatla Malatji to conduct a provincial visit in the Free State province

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The Commissioner responsible for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Older Persons at the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), Adv. Bokankatla Malatji will be conducting a Provincial Visit in the Free State from 14-17 October 2019.

The purpose of the visit is to assess the observance of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Older Persons by respective institutions, and to strengthen collaboration between the Commission and stakeholders in the province such as Civil Society Organisations and Government. Activities to be carried out during the visit includes the following:

  • Visits to special and mainstream schools.
  • Visits to psychiatric facilities.
  • Visits to residential facilities for older persons.
  • Stakeholder engagements with both the Disability and Older Persons sector respectively.
