The purpose of the visit is to assess the observance of the rights of Children and Migrants and to strengthen cooperation between the SAHRC, the North West Provincial Government, relevant organs of state, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders involved in the protection and promotion of the rights of children and migrants in the North West Province.
As part of her provincial visit, Commissioner Makwetla will:
- Promote children and migrant’s right;
- Intervene in complaints relating to children and migrants;
- Meet MEC for Social Development other relevant officials; Engage with various NGOs and relevant stakeholders working on children and migrants’ right to understand challenges that they face and to facilitate a working relationship;
- Conduct inspections in loco at selected child care centres and schools in the North West Province.
