Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission to Oppose an Inderdict By the City of Cape Town

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission or the SAHRC) will be appearing in the Western Cape High Court, in Cape Town today, the 8th May 2020.

The Commission will be opposing an Interdict sought by the City of Cape Town, preventing members of the SAHRC and civil society - acting in terms of the Commission’s Constitutional mandate - access to Strandfontein Emergency Shelter to protect, promote and monitor the adhearnce to Human Rights as provided for in Chapter Two of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.

The matter is scheduled to be heard at 11:00 AM.
