The North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) will provide human rights monitoring training to community advice offices affiliated to the Community Advice Offices South Africa (CAOSA) in the North West Province.
The training will focus on the human rights framework as enshrined in the Bill of Rights, the principles and ethics underpinning human rights monitoring, the code of conduct for human rights monitors, data analysis and report writing.
The selected community advice offices will be responsible for implementing the CAOSA Gender Based Violence (GBV) project which is aimed at promoting access to justice for victims and survivors of GBV. Once trained, the human rights monitors will conduct monitoring and collect data on GBV from communities, businesses and state institutions in order to advocate for the reform of legislation and policy framework governing GBV.
Training will take place as follows:
Date: 18th & 19th November 2020
Time: 13h00 - 17h00 (Wednesday) and 08h00 – 11h00 (Thursday)
Venue: Lemon Blossom Guest House (Potchefstroom)
