Media Advisory: Monitoring of mental health care facilities in the North West Province by the South African Human Rights Commission

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) will conduct human rights monitoring at various mental healthcare facilities in the North West Province.

 

The objectives of the human rights monitoring are to:

 

  • Monitor and assess the observance of human rights of mental health care user in the Province;
  • Assess the adequacy of the provision of healthcare services to mental health care users in the Province; and
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Report of the National Hearing on the Status of Mental Health Care in South Africa which was issued by the Commission on 29 March 2019.
