21 June 2021
Attention: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC or Commission) will host its second National Conference on Racism on Tuesday, 22 June 2021. The conference will be convened under the theme “Towards Social Cohesion, Non-racialism, and the Eradication of Racial Polarisation and Tension”.  Key topical issues such as the state of inequality and the continued legacy of segregation will be discussed.

Additionally, recent developments such as that of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act Amendment Bill will also be discussed.

South Africa has reached the milestone of 25 years of the Constitution. This provides an opportune time to reflect on how the country at large has fared in meeting the constitutional ambitions of non-racism, diversity and social cohesion, and sustainable transformation.
