The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in partnership with the Hennenman Victim Empowerment Centre will be hosting a Human Rights Calendar day event on the right to food. The human rights calendar event has been a recurring event, forming a part of the Commission’s strategic focus in 2021-2022 again, with the objective of deepening the understanding of human rights so as to entrench a culture of human rights.

Human rights calendar day events are commemorated in provincial offices and throughout the national office of the Commission, with a view of advancing awareness of specific human rights issues through the particular days formally identified either domestically or internationally to bring focus to the issues. Looking at the amount of challenges faced by people of the province in relation to food security even though the province is the breadbasket of the country.
