The SAHRC KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Office will conduct Human Rights Champions’ Training with Community Advice Offices located in the UMgungundlovu and EThekwini Municipalities.

The training aims to empower Human Rights Champions on the role they play in supporting democracy, the mandate of the SAHRC and protecting the rights of impoverished communities.

The key objectives of the training is to promote a culture of human rights; to develop a better understanding of human rights and strengthen the realisation of human rights; enable participants to assist in identifying human rights violations within the communities that they serve; enable participants to refer complaints to the Commission; to popularise the Commissions Equality Toolkit; to enable participants to further conduct human rights and constitutional awareness with their communities; enhance sustainable working relationships; and to establish and recognise participants as Human Rights Champions.

The human rights champion training is scheduled as follows:
