Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission to conduct a site inspection in Alexandra and to be briefed by government stakeholders on the implementation plan

On Monday, 14 February 2022, the Gauteng office of the South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) will conduct a joint inspection with government stakeholders in Alexandra to assess progress made in implementing its directives.

In July 2021, the Commission issued a report which required organs of state to urgently intervene to correct human rights violations in Alexandra. The Commission further directed that all state respondents to which the findings and issues applied, to respond to the Commission jointly or separately, within 60 days of receiving the report.
