Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Provincial Office to launch a report of the Dialogue on the Impact of Human Trafficking Amid COVID-19

Attention: Editors and Reporters

O2 MARCH 2022

The Mpumalanga Provincial Office (MPO) will be launching a report of the dialogue which was held on 11 August 2021 on the impact of human trafficking on human rights amid COVID-19. The dialogue took place following media reports and concerns that Mpumalanga is being used as a gateway for trafficking persons, particularly women and children, from neighbouring countries to other provinces in the country and beyond.

The launch aims to raise awareness about trafficking in persons as a human rights violation and to call upon government as well as the public at large to collaborate and step up the fight against trafficking in persons. The launch is targeting relevant government departments, community based organisations, non-governmental organisations and activists in the sector.

Media houses are welcome to be part of the launch which is scheduled to take place as follows:
Date: 03 March 2022
Venue: Paradise Creek Lodge, Malelane
Time: 10h00 - 14h00

Ends
