The role of Monitoring and training is to assist the SAHRC in the execution of its mandate, by strengthening real time access to communities, raise awareness and access to justice; and serve as a link between the Commission and communities. In addition, the development, enlightening, raising awareness, ear marking areas of concern and empowering vulnerable communities to access and realise their human rights; and to deepen an understanding of human rights, as over a period of time, levels of awareness increase through a multiplier effect.
The monitoring toolkits will be rolled out, to educate community members and service providers on the role of the Commission and human rights on a holistic spectrum.
Various monitoring of schools, places of older persons, persons living with disabilities detention centres, child and youth care centres, health local government entities and psychiatric hospitals will be conducted.
