Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Office hosts capacity building workshop on Human Rights Monitoring

Attention: Editors and Reporters

18 May 2022

The Mpumalanga Provincial Office (MPO), in collaboration with Community Advice Office South Africa (CAOSA), will be hosting a Human Rights capacity building workshop in Mpumalanga.  The workshop is aimed at capacitating the Commission’s human rights champions and CAOSA coordinators to be able to conduct monitoring and submit reports on human rights violations in their localities.
The Commission and CAOSA intends to utilise the reports to develop intervention strategies aimed at assisting communities to assert and enforce their basic human rights.
The human rights champions are based in all municipalities in the province, and work with the Commission as well as other organisations and many sectors of civil society to promote respect for human rights. The Champions also assist the Commission in the execution of its mandate by strengthening real time access to communities and access to justice; and serve as a link between the Commission and communities.
The workshop is scheduled to take place on 19 May 2022 at 09h00 – 13h30 in Middelburg
