Media Advisory: SAHRC North West Provincial Office will be commemorating International Mandela Day

Attention: Editors and Reporters

29 July 2022

On 29 July 2022, the North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will be commemorating International Mandela Day in honouring the legacy of Nelson Mandela, and his values, through volunteering and community services. Mandela believed in equality and advocated for people to rise above colour and social class and come together and help each other.

This day gives everyone the opportunity to heed the call to action for people to recognise their individual power to make an imprint and change the world around them. The theme for 2022 is “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”
The theme highlights the world’s inequality which continues to grow, and the destructive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that has exposed existing disparities and damaged vulnerable communities in all kinds of ways.

The commemoration will be focusing on donating food parcels to identified families in Lethabong village and donation of sanitary pads and toiletries for learners at Rethusegile Secondary School in Lethabong village.

The commemoration is scheduled to take place as follows:
Venue: Lethabong Village (Lethabong Legal Advice Centre)
Date: 29 July 2022
Date: 09h00 to 13h00
Ends
