The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will be conducting an Equality Workshop for Spur in Potchefstroom. The workshop is aimed at capacitating workers on the right to equality.
On 14 July 2022, the Commission became aware of a Twitter post that went viral relating to the allegations of racial harassment of employees at a Spur restaurant (“Spur”) in Potchefstroom. The SAHRC initiated an own accord investigation into the allegations and the matter was subsequently resolved between the management and the employees of Spur.
The SAHRC determined that there is a growing need for workers to receive information on their rights to equality at their place of work and to train employers about the respect of employees’ rights. The workshop is part of the South African Human Rights Commissions’ continued initiatives aimed at creating and promoting a culture of human rights in communities and places of work.
The details of the workshop are as follows:
Date: 25 August 2022
Time: 10:00 – 15:00
Venue: Spur, Potchefstroom
Ends
