Media Advisory: SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office will visit Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital today

Attention: Editors and Reporters

13 October 2022

The South African Human Rights Commission Gauteng provincial office (GPO) will visit Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, on 13 October 2022.

Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital is a large central accredited general hospital in the province of Gauteng, that also serves as a referral hospital for a number of hospitals in the republic.

The visit follows from the Commissions visit in June 2021 following a fire that broke out on 16 April 2021, destroying parts of the hospital, medical goods worth R40 million, as well as a large amount of personal protective equipment.

The visit to the hospital seeks to assess the extent of the progress made by the contractors in remedying the situation.

The advent will take place as follows:

Date: 13 October 2022
Time: 11h00
Venue: Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital
