Media Advisory: SAHRC Western Cape Provincial Office to conduct Human Rights Champions workshop

Attention: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC) Western Cape Provincial Office will conduct a training for Human Rights Champions / Community Advice Offices in the Province. The purpose of the workshop is to empower Human Rights Champions on the role they play in supporting the mandate of the SAHRC, protecting the rights of communities and related legislations. 
The workshop will seek to promote a culture of human rights; to develop a better understanding of human rights and strengthen the realization of human rights; enable participants to assist in identifying human rights issues within the communities that they serve; enable participants to refer complaints to the Commission; to enable participants to further conduct human rights and constitutional awareness programmes with their communities; enhance sustainable working relationships with Human Rights Champions.

The human rights champion workshop is scheduled as follows:
