Media Advisory: SAHRC Western Cape provincial office to conduct stakeholder engagements and human rights champions workshop in the West Coast district

Attention: Editors and Reporters

13 February 2023

SAHRC Western Cape provincial office to conduct stakeholder engagements and human rights champions workshop in the West Coast district.

The objective of the stakeholder engagements is to engage with government departments, civil society organisations and communities with the view to heightening awareness about human rights and institutions that can help with redress for human rights violations, with a specific focus on the role of the Commission in promoting, monitoring and protecting human rights.

The engagements are to further reflect on the issues that have been observed and communicated to the Commission by some communities in the West Coast. It is for this reason that the provincial office also decided to conduct a training workshop for human rights champions in the district.

The Stakeholder engagements are scheduled to take place as follows:

Venue: Lambertsbaai Municipal Council Chambers

Date: 14 February 2023

Time: 09h30 – 13h30

Venue: Vital Connections Boardroom, Saldanha Bay

Date: 17 February 2023

Time:  09h30 – 13h30

The training workshop for human rights champions is scheduled as follows:

              Venue: Louwville Civic Centre, Vredenburg

              Date: 15 February 2023

              Time: 10h00 – 15h00

Ends
