Media Alert: SAHRC reaches settlement with Steve Hofmeyr in LGBTIQ+ comments matter

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) can confirm that it has reached a settlement with Mr Steve Hofmeyr in a matter related to comments he made concerning the LGBTIQ+ community. The settlement will be made an order of court tomorrow in the High Court in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

The SAHRC believes that this settlement reinforces the importance of promoting and protecting the rights of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other personal characteristic.  Further information regarding the settlement and its implications will be provided by the SAHRC after the settlement has been made an order of court. The SAHRC remains committed to advancing human rights in South Africa.
