The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/the Commission) Western Cape provincial office will be hosting Summit on “UPGRADING OF AND PROVISION OF SERVICES TO INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IN THE WESTERN CAPE”.

The objective of the Summit is to engage with relevant government stakeholders and to create mechanisms through which it can strategically engage on the challenges and to assist informal settlement dwellers in the Western Cape more effectively and sustainably, put in motion processes and agreements with relevant stakeholders in government to improve the manner in which the Commission is able to address complaints regarding lack of service provision and general poor living conditions in informal settlements and other low-income communities in the Western Cape.

The summit will also establish a monitoring and enforcement toolkit that can be used to monitor informal settlements, IDPs and other interventions from government (or lack thereof) to assist informal settlement dwellers.

The engagement will be held as follows:
