The South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) in Limpopo will be conducting the inspection in loco together with the Municipal Manager of Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality (“the Municipality”) on the 1st of August 2023. The Commission will conduct the inspection in the areas identified during the preliminary investigation after receiving the complaints.

The South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) in Limpopo will be conducting the inspection in loco together with the Municipal Manager of Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality (“the Municipality”) on the 1st of August 2023. The Commission will conduct the inspection in the areas identified during the preliminary investigation after receiving the complaints.
Following the complaints received by the Commission against Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, the Commission conducted preliminary inspections to determine the seriousness of the complaints and requested to meet with the Municipal Manager to conduct further inspections in the presence of the Municipal Manager.
Complaints against Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality related to the management of Wastewater Treatment and Landfill Sites by Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality, in the Phalaborwa area, which directly affects the right to a clean environment as provided by the Constitution.
