Media Advisory: The SAHRC in Northern Cape to host a Human Rights Dialogue on Equality, Inclusivity, Tolerance and Diversity

21 August 2023

Attention: Editors and Reporters

In an ongoing effort to champion human rights and foster a more equal, inclusive, tolerant and diverse society in South Africa different stakeholders and role-players will be coming together for a crucial dialogue on equality, inclusivity, tolerance, and diversity. By bringing together a wide spectrum of perspectives and expertise, the dialogue seeks to explore strategies that will lead to a meaningful change at individual, societal and systemic levels. The dialogue will serve as a platform for open discussions on the progress made and challenges faced in the pursuit of equal rights for all citizens of South Africa. It recognizes the collective responsibility to build a nation where equality, inclusivity, tolerance and diversity are not only celebrated but also embraced as a source of strength.

South Africa's rich history of overcoming adversity and striving for justice serves as a poignant backdrop for this dialogue. As we reflect on the struggles and victories that have shaped our nation, it becomes clear that the journey towards equality, inclusivity, tolerance and diversity is ongoing and requires collective dedication. This dialogue is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to human rights and to acknowledge the diverse identities that make up our society. It is a call to action for all stakeholders and role-platers, leaders and activists to contribute to a more just, equitable and unified South Africa.

The dialogue is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date      : Tuesday, 22 August 2023

Time     : 09:00 AM to 13:00 PM

Venue   : Sweet Dreams Guesthouse (21 Finis Road, Verwoerdpark), Kimberley

The key objectives for the dialogue are:

  • to raise awareness about the importance of equality, inclusivity, tolerance, and diversity in fostering a harmonious and thriving society.
  • to identify and address the barriers, challenges and prejudices that hinder the realization of equality and inclusivity.
  • to engage participants on discussions in creating and implementing policies that support equality, inclusivity, tolerance and diversity.
