Media Advisory: SAHRC KwaZulu Natal Provincial Office in partnership with the KZN DOE and other stakeholders will conduct the Moot Court Workshops and host the provincial oral rounds of the National Schools Moot Court Programme

The South African Human Rights Commission in KwaZulu Natal (the Commission) in partnership with the KwaZulu Natal Department of Education (DoE), and other stakeholders, will conduct workshops in preparation for the Provincial Oral Rounds of the National Schools Moot Court Programme (NSMCP). The Commission and DoE following the workshops, will host the Provincial Oral Rounds at the Durban Magistrate Court.

To prepare the learners for the Provincial Oral Rounds of the NSMCP, the Commission, DoE and other stakeholders will conduct preparatory workshops with participating learners from the ten schools that advanced through the essay writing phase. The workshops are aimed at enhancing the oralists with trial advocacy and oral presentation skills. The preparatory workshop will also be used to orientate the learners on various aspects including court procedures and court etiquette.

The Provincial Oral Rounds of the NSMCP will be hosted following the workshops and will provide learners with the opportunity to present oral arguments in a courtroom before judicial officers and legal practitioners.
