Media Advisory: SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office will visit Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital on 11 September 2023

The South African Human Rights Commission in Gauteng will visit Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital on 11 September 2023.

The visit follows the Commission’s investigation in 2021  following media reports that shed light on a number of incidents that brought the safety of patients and staff into question. There were further allegations of maladministration and the ill-treatment of staff at the hospital.

The Gauteng Provincial Office has been monitoring hospitals in Gauteng for the past year, including Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, Tembisa Hospital, and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital to document the challenges facing the hospitals and the plans put in place to address those challenges.

The meeting is a closed meeting.  Queries to follow after the meeting.
