Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Office hosts exhibition on human rights awareness

The SAHRC in Mpumalanga will be conducting an exhibition on the mandate of the Commission in collaboration with other stakeholders who will also be sharing information on their services to communities in and around Emgcobaneni Trust, Hazyview.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness and empower local communities on information pertaining to human rights as enshrined in the Constitution. The empowerment is expected to enhance access to services and improved enjoyment of human rights. The right of access to information enshrined in section 32 of the Commission is a central to the promotion, protection and enjoyment of many rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights such as the rights to dignity, equality and to service delivery by government. The right of access to information also serves to proactively empower communities to prevent human rights violations and abuses.                                         

The exhibition will be held on 20 September 2023 at Emgcobaneni Playgrounds, Hazyview starting from 09h00 to 15h00.
