Homelessness negatively impacts the right to access adequate housing and violates many other human rights such as health, water and sanitation, security of the person, human dignity, and social inclusion. Section 26 of the Constitution states that the State should take reasonable legislative and other measures within its available resources to ensure that the right to access adequate housing is progressively realised.
The dialogue is targeting community-based organisations, ordinary community members and representatives from shelters for homeless people. Panellists from relevant stakeholders are also invited to address topics to their role and mandate.
The dialogue is held today 28 September 2023 at Khayalami Hotel, Emalahleni started at 09h00 to 15h00.
