Media Advisory: The SAHRC North West Provincial Office to convene a dialogue under the theme “Bridging the gap between Human Rights and Traditional Customs”

The North West Provincial Office of the Commission will convene a dialogue under the theme “Bridging the gap between human rights and traditional customs.”

The purpose of the dialogue is to engage traditional leaders on human rights issues, with the view to strengthening their capacity to respond to the prevailing human rights challenges in their communities. Under the broader theme, the dialogue will be engaging on the following specific issues, amongst others:
•    Gender rights and customary law and practices;
•    Sexual orientation rights and customary law and practices;
•    Land rights and customary law and practices;
•    The role of traditional authorities in enhancing service delivery.

The dialogue will be held as follows:
