Media Advisory: SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office will be conducting Access to the Equality Court Workshops.

Attention: Editors and Reporters

30 October 2023

The South African Human Rights Commission (‘the Commission’) Gauteng Provincial Office in partnership with Out LGBT Well-Being, will be conducting a series of workshops on Accessing the Equality Courts. Based on the complaints received by the Gauteng Provincial Office, equality remains one of the top human rights violations reported in Gauteng. There is thus a need to empower citizens on how to use the equality courts as a tool to advance their human rights and obtain justice.

The workshops are aimed at capacitating community members on the role of equality courts, accessing equality courts, and the processes involved when filing a complaint at the equality court. The workshop is part of the South African Human Rights Commissions continued efforts to collaborate with community-based organizations and institutions to promote a culture of human rights.

The workshops details are as follows:

Date: 31 October 2023-02 November 2023

Time: 11:00-14:00

Venue: 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein (SAHRC Training Centre)

Ends
