Media Advisory: The SAHRC in the North West conducts a stakeholder engagement with the Department of Social Development on the shortage of Social Workers in the Province and the lack of funding for centres for Children with severe to profound intelle

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC) North West Provincial Office will conduct a stakeholder engagement with the North West Department of Social Development on issues relating to:

  • Shortage of social workers in the North West province; and
  • Lack of funding for centres for children with severe to profound intellectual disability

The proposed stakeholder engagement will provide an opportunity to explore, among other things, solutions to the above challenges and for the SAHRC to receive time-bound plans for filling the social worker posts and addressing the funding challenges faced by centres for disabled children.

The stakeholder engagement is scheduled to take place as follows:
