Media Advisory: The SAHRC in the North West to conduct monitoring activities across the province

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission in the North West is conducting monitoring activities across the province to assess the state of observance of human rights in the province. Municipalities to be visited include Rustenburg Local Municipality; Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality; Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality; Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality; Mamusa Local Municipality; Ditsobotla Local Municipality and Ratlou Local Municipality.

As part of the monitoring, the Commission staff, with the assistance of Human Rights Champions from Community Based Organisations and Legal Advices Centre, will visit health care facilities, schools, old age homes, places of safety for children, secure centres, correctional facilities and communities.

The monitoring is scheduled to take place as follows:
