    Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission in the North West Province will conduct Human Rights Advocacy Interventions as a build up to Human Rights Day commemoration

    In the month of March 2024, the North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will conduct human rights advocacy interventions aimed at building up for the human rights day commemoration and to promote respect for human rights and culture of human rights.

    As a lead-up to the commemorative event, the Provincial Office intends to conduct an outreach intervention during which will be educating members of the public about their human rights and the redress mechanisms available to them for vindicating their rights.

    The rights that communities will be educated about include the rights to equality, education, access to water and sanitation, access to healthcare services and access to housing, amongst others. The Commission will also be providing free legal clinic services to members of the public who require them. The sites for the intervention will include taxi ranks, SASSA points, shopping malls and healthcare facilities, advocacy interventions commenced on the 4th March in Lekwa Temane local municipality and will proceed in Greater Taung local Municipality, Kagisano Molopo and Mamusa local municipality.

    The advocacy interventions are scheduled to take place as follows:

    Municipalities: Greater Taung local Municipality, Kagisano Molopo and Mamusa local municipality
