The South African Human Rights Commission Gauteng Provincial Office (the Commission) in partnership with Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr is commemorating Human Rights Day at Ezibeleni School for Physically Disabled Learners. Human Rights Day is celebrated annually on 21 March and serves as a reminder of the struggles many fought for to ensure equality for all.
Human Rights Day not only honours the sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom but also reinforces the importance of upholding human dignity, liberty, and fundamental rights for all citizens. It serves as a call to action to continue striving towards a society where every individual's rights are respected, protected, and upheld, regardless of race, gender, religion, or socioeconomic status. Through commemoration and reflection, Human Rights Day in South Africa fosters a collective commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and equitable society for future generations.
By involving young people in discussions and celebrations of human rights we hope to inspire learners to be part of communities, organizations, and institutions that uphold the rights of all who live in South Africa.
