Media Advisory: Engagement with the MEC for the Department of Education in the North West

The North West Provincial Office of the Commission, led by Commissioner Nomahlubi Khwinana, will meet with the MEC for the Department of Education in the North West.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the outcome of the Commission’s school monitoring program for the 2023/2024 financial year and to discuss the reports issued by the Commission in 2023 on school infrastructure challenges in the North West (see link to the report: https://www.sahrc.org.za/home/21/files/Schools%20Infrastructure%20Inquiry%20Report.pdf)  and the  9 January 2019 incident which sparked racial tensions at Laerskook Schweizer Reneke and the surrounding community (see link to the report: (https://www.sahrc.org.za/home/21/files/FINAL %20REPORT%20-%20LAERSKOOL%20SCHWEIZER% 20RENEKE%20-%2018%20January%202023.pdf).
