Media Advisory: North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission to commemorate and attend gala dinner event

 20 March 2024

ATTENTION: Editors and Reporters

The North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (“NWPO’) will host a gala event in commemoration of National Human Rights Day. The aim of the commemoration is to remember and celebrate the contribution of past and present-day human rights defenders in advancing human rights in South Africa and the North West Province in particular, under the theme “Three Decades of Respect for and Promotion of Human Rights”.

In South Africa Human Rights Day is a national day that is commemorated annually on 21 March as a reminder of the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for the attainment of democracy in South Africa. The commemoration provides the country with an opportunity to reflect on progress made in the promotion and protection of human rights.

As part of this year’s commemoration, the NWPO will seek to honour individual human rights defenders and organisations who continue to meaningfully contribute to the advancement of human rights and the fostering of a human rights culture in the province.

The commemoration will take place as follows:

Date: 20 March 2024

Time: 16h00 - 20h00

Venue: Kedar Heritage Lodge, Conference Centre & Spa, R565, Rustenburg, 0309

Ends
