In South Africa Human Rights Day is a national day that is commemorated annually on 21 March as a reminder of the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for the attainment of democracy in South Africa. The commemoration provides the country with an opportunity to reflect on progress made in the promotion and protection of human rights.
As part of this year’s commemoration, the NWPO will seek to honour individual human rights defenders and organisations who continue to meaningfully contribute to the advancement of human rights and the fostering of a human rights culture in the province.
