Media Advisory: The Gauteng Provincial Office in partnership with OUTLGBT Wellbeing will be conducting a SOGIE Rights Awareness Workshop at Crawford International, Pretoria

Attention: Editors and Reporters

16 APRIL 2024

The Gauteng Provincial Office (GPO) of the South African Human Rights Commission (Commission) in partnership with OUT LGBT Wellbeing will be conducting a human rights awareness workshop on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression (SOGIE).

The Commission continuously receives complaints and inquiries regarding bullying in schools-particularly SOGIE-related bullying in schools. The Commission saw it crucial to partner with OUT LGBT Wellbeing and conduct workshops with various schools to capacitate educators and learners on SOGIE rights and the importance of schools being a safe environment for learners and educators.

Addressing SOGIE-related bullying is crucial for creating safe and inclusive environments where all individuals can thrive. The workshop is one of many workshops that the SAHRC and OUT LGBT WellBeing will be conducting in Gauteng.

The workshop will be as follows:

Date: 16 April 2024

Time: 14:30-16:00

Venue: Crawford International, Pretoria
