Media Advisory: The Gauteng Provincial Office conducts a status briefing meeting and inspection at the Rooiwal Waste Treatment Works

On 26 April 2024, the Gauteng Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) will attend a status briefing meeting with the City of Tshwane and thereafter conduct a joint inspection with other government stakeholders at the Rooiwal Waste Treatment Works (WWTW). The aim of the meeting and joint inspection is  to assess the progress made on the upgrade of the plant.

On 26 October 2021, the Commission issued the Gauteng Provincial Inquiry into the Sewerage pollution of the City of Tshwane rivers and Roodeplaat Report. This visit forms part of monitoring of the Commission’s recommendations in the report.
