Media Advisory: SAHRC KwaZulu Natal Provincial Office to conduct monitoring and outreach in the King Cetshwayo District Municipality

Attention: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission's (SAHRC) KwaZulu Natal Provincial Office will be conducting monitoring of healthcare facilities, traditional courts, police stations, correctional centres in the King Cetshwayo District Municipality. Section 184 (1) (c) of the Constitution empowers the SAHRC to monitor and assess the observance of human rights throughout the country. This includes inspecting areas of potential violation and seeking redress where necessary.

Further, the Commission will conduct outreach activities in the abovementioned district, in order  to raise awareness and increase reach of the Commission to the public in the respective service points on their rights and to allow the public to also consult and lodge complaints with the Commission.
