Media Briefing Invite: SAHRC Limpopo Provincial Office hosts media briefing on the 3-day inquiry into the violations of human rights of mining communities in Limpopo Province.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) Limpopo Provincial Office (LPO) invites members of the media to a briefing following a 3-day inquiry on mining activities in Limpopo. The inquiry was held from 25 June and concludes today.

The briefing will provide members of the media with an opportunity to engage the Commission on what transpired during the three-day inquiry. In addition, outline steps to be taken by the SAHRC to finalise systematic investigation of the impact of mining on human rights in Limpopo.

The media briefing will be held as follows:

Over the past years the LPO has continuously received and investigated complaints of human rights violations due to mining activities with environmental rights and socio-economic rights being the most allegedly violated.
