Media Advisory: SAHRC Western Cape Provincial Office hosts a stakeholder engagement on protective measures during illegal evictions

Attention: Editors and Reporters

27 June 2024

The Western Cape Provincial Office (WCPO) of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will host a stakeholder engagement to address and discuss protective measures provided to evictees during unlawful evictions.

With the co-operation of relevant stakeholders, the key objective of the engagement will be to explore the protection mechanisms that are currently in place for persons faced with illegal removals from land owned or controlled by another. This will help to determine what changes in practice or in the legislative framework are needed to effectively protect people against illegal removals.

The WCPO will host the stakeholder engagement at the below address:

Date: 28 June 2024

Venue: Southern Sun Hotel, 23 Strand Street, Cape Town.

Time: 9h30 - 14h00

For media queries contact the Western Cape Provincial Office on 021 426 2277 or  Bahia Sterris, Senior Legal Officer, WCPO at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
